Even minor accidents can result in injuries, so it’s essential to contact Dr. Mehta after a crash, even if you feel okay.

Workplace accidents

Workplace accidents happen while you’re on the job. Anyone can experience a workplace injury, but they’re most common in physically demanding environments, like warehouses, construction sites, and factories.

There are a variety of work and driving-related activities that may increase your risk of accidents, including:

• Using a computer mouse
• Typing
• Grasping hand tools
• Working on an assembly line
• Failing to wear the proper safety equipment
• Not wearing seatbelt
• Not paying attention

You’re also more likely to experience an accident if you don’t drive defensively. When you’re behind the wheel, limit distractions, follow the speed limit, and keep a safe distance between yourself and other drivers.

Diagnosing accident-related injuries isn’t always easy. Certain conditions, like whiplash, can take hours or even days to present symptoms. Therefore, Dr. Mehta takes her time to ensure she understands your needs. 

First, she reviews your medical records and asks about the accident, including what occurred, if you’re experiencing any symptoms, and their severity.

Next, Dr. Mehta conducts a physical exam. During the physical, she tests your reflexes, muscle strength, and range of motion. Dr. Mehta also orders diagnostic imaging to rule out underlying issues.

Treatment of accident-related injuries depends on several factors, including your age and the severity of your symptoms. Usually, Dr. Mehta recommends conservative treatments like:

• Ice, rest, compression, and elevation
• Over-the-counter pain medication
• Immobilization with a cast or a splint
• Physical therapy
• Neck brace
• Corticosteroid injections
• At-home stretches
